Refused before the page loads

Blocked domains are written into the Windows hosts file, so they fail to resolve for every browser and every app on the machine, including private windows. cocloc also turns DNS-over-HTTPS off in Chrome, Edge, Brave and Firefox, because a browser resolving DNS inside itself would route straight around the hosts file. Nothing is decrypted. No certificate is installed.

On the screen · coming

Not in this build

Screen detection is coming: a small model on your own disk, looking for explicit content a domain list structurally misses. It is not in the product today. There is no screen capture, no model running and nothing drawn on your screen. We would rather say that here than sell you a page of it.

The blocklist that ships is 121 domains, hand-curated, plus a 15-domain never-block list for health, recovery and education. It covers the majors. It is not exhaustive, and it never will be.

On cocloc Lock: four things, and no others.

    If — and only if — you name an accountability partner: events. “Uninstall requested at 01:14.” Partner alerts are coming, not built.

    That fourth one is not an account and not a profile. It carries nothing about what you did: no browsing, no screen, no domains you visited or tried to visit.

On cocloc Free it is one thing: an email, if you write to support. No payment, no licence check, no partner.

Every blocker has these. Most don’t print them on the front page.

    It will not cover your phone, your tablet, or your work laptop.

    Windows 11 desktop and laptop only. Windows 10 has never been tested. That’s a limit, and we’d rather name it than hide it.

    It will not stop a VPN, a raw IP address, or a browser pointed at a DNS provider we don’t cover.

    Those are the three routes around a hosts file, and all three still work. We name them because you will find them anyway.

    It will not watch your screen. Yet.

    Screen detection is coming. It is not in this build, so a feed, a timeline or a video on a site we cannot block wholesale goes through untouched today.

    It will not stop someone who holds their own admin account and knows what they’re doing.

    You stay an administrator on your own machine. cocloc does not take that away. It makes removal slow, deliberate and logged. It does not make it impossible.
